Silke Z. – Künstlerische Leitung

Silke Z. lebt und arbeitet als freischaffende Choreographin in Köln. Sie studierte an der Deutschen Sporthochschule Köln in den Fächern Tanz und Ski, absolvierte eine Ausbildung am European Dance Development Center (EDDC) in Arnheim/Düsseldorf und ein Gaststudium am Moving On Center - School for Participatory Arts and Research in San Francisco.

Silke Z. ist Mitbegründerin von resistdance., von Studio 11, einer Produktions- und Arbeitsstätte für den freien Tanz in Köln und von studiotrade – einem europäischen Austauschnetzwerk. Ihre Produktion FRACTURED wurde mit dem Kölner Tanzpreis 1999 und mit dem Förderpreis freier Theater NRW Theaterzwang 2000 ausgezeichnet. 2001 wurde sie für das Choreographen - Stipendium der Stiftung Kunst und Kultur NRW ausgewählt, das sie im Bereich Dramaturgie im Tanztheater in London und Düsseldorf absolvierte.

Die Produktion CAUGHT UP wurde für den Kölner Tanztheaterpreis 2003 nominiert. Ihre Produktion LOOK erhielt den Förderpreis des Festivals Theaterzwang 2004. Die Produktion Alife 2004 wurde für den Kölner Tanzpreis nominiert. Von 2004 bis 2008 war sie u.a. künstlerische Projekt-Leiterin der Reihe TANZKONKRET in Köln.

2005/2006 arbeitete sie an dem Projekt MUTPROBEN und entwickelte seitdem sechs abendfüllende Veranstaltungen zu diesem Thema in Köln, Hannover und dem Ludwigforum in Aachen, dem tanzhaus nrw und dem Counterpulse Theater in San Francisco. Abschließend entstand die Produktion :überMut.

2007 erarbeitete sie im Rahmen von „take off“, Tanzplan Deutschland, die Produktion machtMut am tanzhaus nrw. Eine generationenübergreifende Tanzproduktion, die professionelle Tänzer und Jugendliche gemeinsam auf die Bühne bringt.

Ihre Produktion private spaces wurde zu favoriten 08/Theaterzwang – Festival NRW eingeladen. machtMut wurde für den Deutschen Theaterpreis DER FAUST 2008 nominiert.Die Produktionen machtMut und private spaces wurden mit dem Kölner Tanzpreis 2008 ausgezeichnet.

In 2009 begann sie mit „Felix trifft Felix“ das Generationenprojekte „unter uns“, produzierte im Rahmen von „take off – junger Tanz“ Tanzplan Deutschland das Tanztheaterstück „It’s a man’s world“ für Jugendliche ab 10 und hat mit Caroline Simon zusammen „HAPPY BIRTHDAY –it’s a celebration“ als Fortsetzung von „stück“ inszeniert. In 2010 entstand in Kooperation mit den Medienkünstler Micha Thies, Ralf Baecker und Tobias Grewenig die interdisziplinäre Tanzperformance „emotional ENERGY“. Im Herbst 2010 hatte der zweite Teil des Generationenprojektes mit „Jess trifft Angus“ Premiere. Im April 2011 hatte die Ensembleproduktion „sweded – das Leben als Kopie“ - eine Produktion mit 8 Tänzern, Videoprojektionen und Lichtinstallationen im tanzhaus nrw, Düsseldorf Premiere.

Silke Z. – artistic direction

lives and works as an independant choreographer in Cologne. She studied dance and skiing at the Deutsche Sporthochschule Köln, completed training at the European Dance Development Center (EDDC) in Arnheim and Düsseldorf and pursued farther training at San Francisco´s Moving On Center – School fpr Participatory Arts and Research. Silke Z. is a co-founder of resistdance, Studio 11, and die.idee//artist network.

Her production, “fractured” was honoured with the cologne danceaward for 1999 and the Förderpreis freier Theater NRW Theaterzwang.

Her production CAUGHT UP was developed at CHOREODROME at THE PLACE/LONDON and selected for the danceaward cologne 2003.

Her production “Look” was honoured with the danceaward of the festival Theaterzang 2004. Her production “Alife” 2004 was selected for danceaward cologne 2004.

Since 2005 she worked on a series called MUTPROBEN/DARE PROJECT that she has been developing in coproduction with the Orangerie in Cologne, Eisfabrik Hannover and the Ludwigforum in Aachen.

In 2006 that series continued at Tanzhaus NRW and at Counterpulse Theater in San Francisco. All Mutproben/DARE Projects are full evening pieces containing dance, theater, video, live-sounddesign and other related performance arts. A compilation of all Mutproben/DARE PROJECTS (1-5) in September 2006 lead to the production called “:überMut” at the tanzhaus nrw and was than touring in various cities.

2007 she produced in the course of “take off”, Tanzplan Deutschland the production “machtMut” at the tanzhaus nrw. A production which combines professional dancers and adolescents on one stage, which was awarded with the Kölner Tanzpreis 2008.

Her production private spaces (the p.s.-project) was selected for favoriten08/Theaterzwang , a regional festival for theatre and dance and was awarded with the Kölner Tanzpreis 2008.

From 2004 until 2008 she was the artistic director for the danceseries TANZKONKRET in Cologne, a plattform for local and national dancework.

In 2009 she started working on her Generationenproject Just between us! A project that will be developed in 6 episodes and will come to a final in 2012.

Also in 2009 she produced with the frame of „take off – junger Tanz“ Tanzplan Deutschland „It’s a man’s world“ a piece for Teeangers. In 2010 she collaborated with the media artists Micha Thies, Ralf Baecker und Tobias Grewenig and they created the production „emotional ENERGY“ at tanzhaus nrw together. Emotional Energy was recently seen in Bournemouth at Pavillion Dance and at Dance Digital in the UK.

In April 2011 the piece „sweded – life as a copy“ – a production with 8 dancers and film was celebrating it’s premiere at tanzhaus nrw, Düsseldorf.

Currently Silke Z. ist the aristic director of „studioworks“ a yearly dance-series that invites national and international danceartists to present their work as well as work in progress and improvisational work.

In 2011 Silke Z. co-founded a new network „studiotrade“. A european network for sharing infrastructues and facilities to inable danceartists to produce and coproduce within another context. „studiotrade“ is in it’s pilot year and has 9 members in 7 countries at this moment.
