Die Kölner Choreografin Silke Z. erforscht in ihrer interdisziplinären Tanzperformance das Thema Privatsphäre und arbeitet an der Schnittstelle von Live-Performance, Videoinstallation und Filmfiktion. Zwischen einer Tänzerin und einem Tänzer entwickelt sich ein emotionsgeladenes und dynamisches Spiel um Nähe und Distanz, Kontrolle und Kontrollverlust. Es entstehen private Räume, denen sich die Zuschauer nicht entziehen können - sie bewegen sich durch eine Rauminstallation, die die Performance von vier Seiten umschließt. Die klassische Bühne löst sich in einen Raum auf, in dem alle gemeinsam etwas erleben.   „private spaces (the p.s. project)” entstand während Residenzen in Tallinn, Newcastle und Düsseldorf. Silke Z. setzt sich in ihren choreografischen Arbeiten intensiv mit zwischenmenschlichen Beziehungen und Begegnungen zwischen Performern und Zuschauern auseinander. In ihrem letzten Projekt „machMut“ aus der Serie „Mutproben“ von 2007 arbeitete sie u.a. mit Jugendlichen. machtMut ist für den Kölner Tanz- und Theaterpreis 2008 nominiert und für den Deutschen Theaterpreis DER FAUST 2008.

Winner of the Cologne dance and theatre Award 2008

In her interdisciplinary dance performance, Cologne-based choreographer Silke Z. explores the idea of the private sphere. Her work is a convergence of live performance, video installation and narrative film. A male and female dancer create an emotional landscape shaped by the dynamic interplay between closeness and distance, control and powerlessness. Private spheres emerge from which the audience cannot escape – they move throughout an installation that surrounds the performance on all four sides. The traditional stage is replaced by a space in which everyone shares in a common experience.

private spaces (the p.s. project) was created during residencies spent in Tallin, Newcastle and Düsseldorf. In her choreography work, Silke Z. intensively examines interpersonal relationships and encounters between performers and audiences. In her last project, machMut, from the 2007 series Mutproben, the performers she worked with included young adults. machtMut received the 2008 Kölner Tanz und Theaterpreis (Cologne Dance and Theater Prize) and was nominated for the 2008 German theater award DER FAUST. Private spaces (the p.s. project) received also the Kölner Tanz und Theaterpreis 2008(Cologne Dance and Theater Prize)
